Daily Dachshund

So You Got Your New Family Member

Dachshunds make a great addition to any home. They are good with kids and will bond well with all
of the family members. They are fine just lounging around with you and accepting your belly rubs (another reason to make sure they
get their exercise). They will tend to pick one family member though, and bond with them on a whole other level. This person is
usually the one who feeds them and walks them and spends the most time with them on a daily basis. They can develop seperation
anxiety with this person if they are not properly socialized. To avoid this, socialize your dachshund with as many people as possible
in the first 6 months of its life.

Security

These little guys, at the end of the day, are still hunting dogs. When they go into a badger hole they
are all alone and are used to being independent and because of this, they are brave to the point of foolishness. If someone was
trying to break into your home, a dachshund would not back down despite its size. Its deep chest creates an extremely loud bark
and can create the illusion of a much larger dog behind the door (not to mention waking up the whole neighborhood). They will do
their absolute best to keep you and your family safe, even from a leaf blowing in the wind.
